Helping the “Least of These” – United States

If you have been downtown in any large city you have seen them.

The overlooked. The excluded. The ignored.

Often you find these individuals in the run-down parts of town. People struggling with poverty. Homeless men and women. Those tangled in addiction. Those tormented by mental illness. The disabled, the lonely, the victimized, and the vulnerable. Veterans, runaways, and refugees from other lands.

My heart goes out to these people who have such difficult struggles. And I know that each one of them is deeply loved by Jesus.

During winter, their situation will get worse. It’s getting colder and it gets dark earlier. The streets are gray and empty. In Colorado, we can have very cold weather and snowstorms, sometimes with a foot or more of snow. Can you imagine?

Believe me, I am thankful every day that Reece, the kids and I have a solid roof over our heads, warm beds to sleep in, and plenty of food in the refrigerator. It moves me to think of these men and women and children out in the streets.

As you know, our mission at Living Genuine Love is to connect every one with God’s heart, loving those who are overlooked, excluded and ignored. We want to be a conduit of God’s genuine love in all sorts of practical and tangible ways to struggling people in their time of urgent need. We want to express God’s love for them. We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

So,  Living Genuine Love focuses on meeting the practical and spiritual needs of these hurting people in the inner city by working with our ministry partners to provide them with desperately needed hot meals and warm clothing.

Along with the physical nourishment, we will also provide spiritual nourishment—by giving them Bibles and Christian books, and supporting community-based worship services, neighborhood Bible studies, counseling and one-on-one mentoring.

When we do this for the least of these, Jesus said, we are doing it for Him (Matthew 25:35–40).

I encourage you to take a moment right now to consider just how blessed you are today, and then please give your best gift—whatever that is for you—to help these hurting people. Your generous donation to Living Genuine Love today makes it possible for us to reach people around the world with the life-transforming love of God through our international teaching ministries and humanitarian outreaches.
